The 1mm pure nickel plates are composed of numerous thin nickel layers compressed together through an annealing process . Before the plating process can begin, parts must be clean and free from dirt, corrosion, and defects. A combination of heat treating, cleaning, masking, pickling, and etching might be employed to clean and protect the part during the plating process. Once prepared, the part is immersed in an electrolyte solution and serves as the cathode. The nickel anode dissolves into the electrolyte, forming nickel ions that travel through the solution and deposit onto the cathode.
